Got big dreams for your future? Amazing! But dreams are just the start—you need a plan to make them real. At the SRC Youth Empowerment Forum, we dove deep into turning those dreams into goals and achieving success in academics, careers, and beyond. Here’s everything you missed (and need to know)!

Big thanks to our sponsor, Juici Patties, for helping us make this event possible.

🚀 Step 1: Dream Big, Plan Smart

You’ve got the vision—but how do you get there? Panelist Christine Russell-Lewin nailed it: “Goals are like a map—without them, you’re just wandering around.”

  • Write It Down: Goals in your head won’t cut it. Grab a notebook, open a notes app, or make a vision board.

  • Break It Down: Big goals can feel overwhelming. Turn them into bite-sized tasks that are easier to tackle.

  • Stay Accountable: Share your goals with a friend, teacher, or mentor. They’ll help keep you on track.

💡 Challenge: Create a vision board for 2025 and set one SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound) goal this week.

📚 Step 2: Use Technology to Stay on Track

Your phone isn’t just for Snapchat and Instagram—it’s a powerful tool for success!

  • Digital Planners: Apps like Google Calendar, Todoist, or Notion help you manage your time and tasks.

  • Goal-Tracking Tools: Use apps like Habitica or GoalsOnTrack to track progress and stay motivated.

  • Vision Board on the Go: Snap a pic of your vision board and set it as your wallpaper—it’s your daily reminder to hustle!

💡 Pro Tip: Celebrate your wins, no matter how small. Whether it’s finishing an assignment or acing a test, reward yourself with something fun (hello, ice cream!).

🌟 Step 3: Build Your Network

Who you know matters. As Ajaunie Wright, National Treasurer of the Jamaica Prefects' Association, said, “Your network is your net worth.”

Here’s how to start building your dream team:

  • Talk to Your Teachers: They’ve been where you are and know the ropes.

  • Connect with Peers: Your classmates could be future lawyers, doctors, or CEOs—team up now!

  • Use Social Media Wisely: Follow inspiring accounts, join groups, and comment thoughtfully to connect with like-minded people.

💬 Think about this: Who can you reach out to today for advice or collaboration?

💼 Step 4: Get Career-Ready

Want to align your studies with your dream job? February is National Career Week—your golden opportunity!

What to Expect:

  • Career fairs to explore different industries.

  • Poster competitions with amazing prizes (Region 7 brought home the gold last year!).

  • School-based activities and workshops to inspire your next steps.
