Domestic violence remains a critical issue in Jamaica, affecting families and communities. On February 13, 2025, Serenity Resource Connector, in partnership with the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) Area 3 Police, hosted the 'United Against Domestic Violence' Forum to share insights and support resources.

  • Emphasized the role of counselling and long-term support for survivors.

  • Highlighted the impact of family support gaps in survivor recovery.

  • Shelters assist survivors with career development and job placements.

JCF’s Role in Domestic Violence Prevention – Corporal Jahvarn Brown

  • Victims can report abuse at any police station, with full confidentiality.

  • Police now address reports with urgency, regardless of the victim's intent to press charges.

  • Preventive arrests for up to 12 hours aim to reduce retaliation risks.


Victim Services & Community Support – Anna-Kaye Richardson, Ministry

of Justice

  • Shelters offer survivors stays of 6 to 8 weeks, extendable based on need.

  • The Victim Services Branch provides free counselling, child support, and court services.

  • Survivors can access services via walk-ins or WhatsApp, without referrals.


Community Engagement & Restorative Justice
